About Maryanne Brown

mbrown_thumbMaryanne Brown excels in facilitating interpersonal processes and is able to work effectively to help people through implementation of practice advancement.  She has excellent leadership skills, strong analytical abilities, coaching expertise and extensive nursing knowledge.

With over twenty years of nursing experience, she has practiced in a variety of areas including:

  • Complex Continuing Care: as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in cognitive impairment, complex medical, geriatric assessment and palliative care. Provided leadership for nursing body, advanced practice group and OHA representative to the Ministry of Health for psychogeriatrics
  • Acute Care: as staff nurse in oncology, palliative care and adult medicine,
  • Community Care: as public health nurse in health promotion/disease prevention, case management for high risk seniors, and design of  preceptor programs,
  • Consulting: as a Clinical Nurse Specialist providing process consultation, dementia care development and program planning for Complex Continuing Care,
  • Teaching: at the University of Toronto and community colleges.
  • Research: primary investigator in the study “Agitation In Dementia Residents: the Soothing Effects of Caregivers’ Behaviours“ conducted during  graduate work in Gerontology at the University of Toronto.
  • Presentations: at numerous national and international conferences including the International Congress of Nursing
  • Awards: recipient of several awards for scholastics achievement and contributions to the nursing profession.
